The goal for me at this point in my life is not weight loss it’s muscle gain. I need to increase my lean muscle mass to help me age gracefully and prevent injuries as I get older. I need lean muscle mass to be able to run around after my two young kids and if I’m blessed with the opportunity, play a very active role in the life of my grandchildren.
However, another added benefit of more lean muscle mass is increased metabolism and helping me to feel sexy and confident in anything that I wear – sure, I’ll take that too! And yes, I know that feeling sexy and confident is very subjective. I just happen to know and honor what helps me personally and having a fit and strong body is just ONE minor thing that helps me . 🙂
In order to increase lean muscle mass the very first thing I needed to do was to know where I’m at. So what better way to do that than to get my body composition analysis done at Positive Choice Integrative Wellness Center in San Diego. My experience was outstanding so I thought I’d share it with you below.

- 34:18 They made me do PUSH UPS! 🙂 I learned that this whole time I’ve been doing them I’ve been doing them incorrectly with bad form – no wonder I wasn’t seeing any results!
They used a very sophisticated machine that measures much more than just body fat measurement, the SECA Body Composition Analyzer measures body composition using many frequencies of electro-magnetic waves that allow for accurate body composition measurement equal in accuracy to the gold standards of DEXA, hydrostatic weighing, and the Bod Pod – air displacement. The best part is I didn’t have to undress and the test took less than 20 seconds. In addition to determining with accuracy my muscle mass, body fat, and body water composition, the SECA analyzer really told me information about the strength in each of my limbs, whether the fluid in my body is in or out side your cells (hydration v.s. water retention), accurately estimated daily caloric needs, and gave me a measure on overall cell health – a strong indicator of health status! SO COOL!s.
